While the Legislative Assembly is the primary component of the legislative branch of the Government of Yukon, there are others. These other components, entities created by the Legislature, are the Office of the Ombudsman, the Conflict of Interest Commission, the Child and Youth Advocate Office, and Elections Yukon. The persons who head these entities – the Ombudsman (who is also the Information and Privacy Commissioner and the Public Interest Disclosure Commissioner), the Conflict of Interest Commissioner, the Child and Youth Advocate and the Chief Electoral Officer are appointed by order of the Legislative Assembly and are responsible to the Legislative Assembly.
